Here you can find information on how to participate in Tsehai Conference via the Student Volunteer Program (SV). If you have any questions, please contact us at info[at]tsehaiconferences.com.

Being a Student Volunteer
Your work and engagement as SV will be essential to the success of Tsehai Conference 2007. As a SV you will work 16 hours on tasks such as preparing the conference participants kits, helping visitors to find sessions' locations, setting up audio and video for speakers among others.

Benefits
In return for your help at the conference, all SVs will receive many benefits including free conference registration, a SV gift bag, the opportunity to meet and collaborate with Tsehai scholars, attendees and committee members from participating institutions and from diverse areas involved in Ethiopian Studies.

Commitments and Responsibilities
SVs must commit to 16 hours of work at the conference between the 2nd and 3rd of July 2007, which may include pre- or post-conference duties. You are responsible for your own housing, travel to and from Dallas, Texas, and the meals that are not provided.

Qualifications
Volunteers must be undergraduate, fulltime graduate students during the 2007 academic year. All students, regardless of discipline or area of interest, are encouraged to apply. No prior experience is required. We are looking for enthusiastic, intelligent, reliable people.

How to Apply
We are now accepting applications by email info[at]tsehaiconferences.com. Applications will be accepted until June 1 and should include the following:
  • Contact Information (Address, State, Email, Day Phone, E-mail)
  • Experience (Prior Volunteer Activities)
  • Languages Spoken
  • Affiliation (School, Department, Status Full-time/Part-Time)
If you are accepted, a valid, dated student identification card or a letter from your university or school will be asked when registering at the conference.

We expect more application than we can accommodate, so early application is highly encouraged. However, applicants on the waiting list are often accepted, so do not be discouraged if you are applying close to or after the preliminary deadline.

Selection Process
The volunteers initially selected will be notified by email, so they can begin making any necessary arrangements. The waiting list consists of both the applications received by the June 1st but not initially selected and the ones received after this date.
